We got back on May 4th, and I laid in bed all day. I saw a few people that night but was so tired from the trip that I fell asleep by 10pm. For the next week, my goal was to enjoy Copenhagen to the max before a group of us left for Norway. On Friday, I relaxed a bit, worked out, and hung out with people in KK. I hadn't seen a few people for a long time so it was nice just hanging out that night and catching up.
We had a full day on Saturday. Katie, Teresa, and I took the s-tog to Dyrehave, a massive deer park north of Copenhagen. The weather was amazing and we went for a nice walk and tried to feed these massive packs of deer. They were adorable but really didn't want to hang out. We then walked down to the water and chilled at Bellevue Beach. It was around 60 degrees outside but so many people were laying out just soaking up the sun. I really liked see the Arne Jacobsen lighthouses at the beach. It was also pretty cool because you could see Sweden across the water. We also walked around the neighborhood and there were some pretty cool eco-sustainable but danish chic homes. We then took the train to meatpacking and went to Hija de Sanchez for some tacos and chips. This was our delayed cinco de mayo celebration. The tacos were absolutely amazing, happy I got my mexican fix. We then caught a bus and went to the opening of a Mikeller Bottle Shop. The weather was still so amazing and we drank some really great brews while hanging out dock side. By that time, it was pretty late and we headed back to KK and prepared ourselves for a night out at KB3. I got to spend the night with Maddie who I hadn't seen in yeeaaars and we had a great time. Somehow we ended up with 2 bottles and a table because of Shane's buddy. We didn't know it at the time but now there is major drama regarding the amount we have to pay him. Sunday, we spent the day just lounging. A great lazy sunday. I went to check out this foodie bicycle event but I ended up arriving pretty late because I decided to go for a walk and got really lost. I met up with Katie downtown and we grabbed a beer and some fries from Irish Rover and then went home to chill.
On Monday, Teresa, Katie, Shane and I went to Amager Strandpark and just walked around. One really cool thing about this beach is all the windmills in the water. They're massive and do a really great job of explaining why Denmark is so efficient and oriented towards the future and sustainability. We then went to Norrebro for a really fun BBQ. This was Steve's last night and we all hung out outside and ate some food. It's the best being able to enjoy Copenhagen in the warm weather. It really changes the whole vibe of the city. On Tuesday, I went to do some work at Paluden and we had a family potluck that night. I attempted to make tomato sauce from scratch. It's a lot more difficult than I thought it would be but want to try again, it just needs to get a little thicker. On Wednesday, I had class in the morning followed by the longest group project meeting. We ended up going to DuPong later that night and I actually really bonded with Tim which was fun (friends on instagram now!! woot!). Thursday, I prepared and packed for Norway. I bought some pants and hiking socks, chilled with Aimi, and said bye to Maddie who was returning to America. It was really sad saying bye to Maddie but I know I will see her next year at UW. We left for Norway that night!
